Date of Creation

The 427-Year Sabbatical Design of Ancient History
 - by Floyd R. Cox - Updated 4-04-16

Here’s my sensational, new discovery in a nutshell about Creation and Intelligent Design. If there is a Designer, we should expect to find patterns, repetition and design throughout the ages. Every archeologist wants to find the date of the exodus, but none have found the pattern it fits into. If they knew the pattern, they could also find the dates of Noah’s flood and Creation. I Googled for “date of the exodus” and got, 605,000 hits!

There’s lots of interest, but nobody seems satisfied with any one answer! A key is found by analyzing the numbers. In the Hebrew Masoretic (King James version), there were 251 times 7 years (251 sabbaticals) from Adam to the fall of Babel, when the nations were dispersed after Noah’s flood. However, the Samaritan text says there were 427 times 4 years (1708 years or 244 sabbaticals) as in TABLE 1. Therefore, the two texts differ only by 7 sabbaticals (251 – 244 = 7) or one jubilee! Moreover, the Masoretic text has 251 times 8 years (2008) from Adam to Abraham while the Samaritan text has 251 times 9 years (2259) as in TABLE 2.

These 251-year and 427-year cycles were likely known long before Moses, long before the exodus. I have associated them with the Venus tablets (1700 BC) and a 427-year Jupiter cycle consisting of 61 sabbaticals.

This implies that jubilees are 49 years apart do not interfere with the 7-year and 49-year sabbatical cycles just as Pentecost, the 50th day, does not interrupt the 7-day cycle.

Years begin in the spring. The seventh year does not begin and end on the first day of the seventh month. Only the jubilee year begins in the fall, on the 10th day of the seventh month of the seventh year (Lev 25:9). Jubilees begin in the fall of the 49th years to prevent plowing and planting in the fall. It does not arrive in the 10th days of the seventh month, after the seventh year is completely over.

From Adam to the Exodus (2510 yrs.)

The Masoretic text also has a 251-year pattern after Abraham, which is not as obvious as in the Samaritan text. Abraham was 100 when Isaac was born. Isaac was 60 when Jacob was born, and Jacob was 91 at Joseph’s birth. Therefore, Joseph was born 251 years after Abraham (100 + 60 + 91 = 251).

Moreover, the exodus was 430 years after Abraham was called. Abraham was called before he was 75, before his father died in Haran, while he dwelled in Mesopotamia (Acts 7:2). This means he could have been 75 when he was called the second time when he was 75 in Haran, 427 years before the exodus. Josephus, a first century, multi-lingual, Jewish historian, confirms there were 2510 years from Adam to the exodus. He says, from Adam to the temple, there were 3102 years, and, from the exodus to the temple, 592 years. So, according to his figures, there were 2510 years from Adam to the exodus (3102 – 592 = 2510) (Josephus, Antiquities of the Jews, 8.3.1).

The Book of Jasher (II Chron. 1:18) says, “Abraham (after he was 72) remained in the land of Haran three years, and… at this time (when he was 75) God told Abram, ‘Arise now, take your wife… and go to the land of Canaan and remain there…” (Jasher 13:3-5). This agrees with Acts 7:2-4.

The Masoretic text also has a 427-year pattern, which is not as obvious as in the Samaritan text.

My theory also suggests that 52 years need to be added before the flood, and 52 years need to be subtracted after the exodus. How to remove 52 years after the exodus is on page eight: http://code251.com/code427-p8.html. Even without these corrections, the temple is still 427 times 7 after Adam.

There were 251 times 10 years from Adam to the exodus and 427 times two from the flood to the exodus as in TABLE 3. This means there were 1656 years from Adam to the flood just as we also find in Genesis 5 and 11. Abraham’s first calling in Ur was likely 430 years before the exodus (Acts 7:2; Ex. 12:41).

Other eras of the Bible, such as, the fall of Babel, Abraham’s calling, the temple and the fall of Babylon are not new. What is new is that, evidently, they were originally associated with the 251 and 427-year cycles as follows:

Theory: From the original text, the Hebrew text subtracted 200 years from Mahalaleel & Enoch and added 148 years to Methuselah & Lamech (200-148= 52 years subtracted). The Samaritan text subtracted 401 years from the original text (1708 – 401= 1307). Moreover, the Hebrew text has 251 x 5 plus 401 years from Adam to the flood. The Samaritan text has 1307 years to the flood and another 401 years to the fall of Babel (=1708 yrs).

Methuselah died in the year of the flood, 1307 years after Adam (Hebrew Samaritan text).

Methuselah died in the year of the flood, 1708 years after Adam (Corrected text).

Methuselah died in the year of the flood, 2256 years after Adam (Septuagint text).
(The book of Jubilees said Adam died in the 19th jubilee, in his 931st year.)

(The Samaritan and rabbinical view has a jubilee cycle beginning with the flood. Perhaps this was in the original documents.)

The Samaritan text has the flood (1307) being 251 years after Noah’s birth (1056) in the Masoreh text. This suggests there was also known a 251-year pattern before the flood. Noah waited 502 years (251 x 2) before having Shem.

Since I found these patterns, it seemed reasonable to investigate how and why changes were made in the texts. The middle column in the above table is based upon speculation (i.e., 401 extra years are added to the Samaritan text). It is an attempt to restore an obvious 427-year pattern consisting of 61 sabbaticals (7 x 61 = 427).

I propose that the original text had 1708 years (427 x 4) to the flood and that someone deleted 401 years to make it 1307 years (1708 - 401 = 1307). This would mean that Methuselah lived 887 after Adam plus another 821 years, to the year of the flood in 1708.

Noah allegedly preserved one original text, not three different records. The original text with the 427-year pattern (from Adam to the flood, from Adam to the exodus and from Adam to the temple) likely became corrupt or extinct.

If the Book of Jubilees dealt with sabbaticals and jubilees, then which text was used? In Jubilees 5:22, “Noah made the ark in all respects as he was commanded, in the twenty-seventh jubilee of years (26 x 29 = 1274 years), in the fifth week (4 x 7 = 28 years), in the fifth year (1274 + 28 + 5 = 1307) (1307 + 401 = 1708).

Methuselah dies in year of the flood, 1708 yrs after Adam, 777 yrs after Adam’s death

Noah’s birth in 1056 is 251 yrs before the flood in 1307.
Compelling reasons for believing the flood was in 1708 are:

Shem was 98 at the flood and was 490 at Isaac’s birth (98 + 292 + 100, Samaritan and rabbinical versions).

1708 = 427 x 4.
Abraham’s second calling was 427 yrs after the flood.
The exodus was 427 years after Abraham’s second calling.
The temple was 427 years after the exodus (479 – 52 = 427).
427 yrs equal 61 sabbaticals.
Adam to the temple equal 61 jubilees.

5b has subtracted 52 years from 5a to illustrate three separate views: the 251 and 427-year patterns and the 479 years of I kings 6:1. Josephus used 43 and 57 years while Eusebius used 27 years. Rabbinical chronology has 20 years from Eli’s death and loss of the Ark of the covenant (I Sam 7:1-2; II Sam 6:3) until David brought the Ark into Jerusalem after his seventh year. So the numbers are not superficial to support the patterns mentioned.

Notes on Jubilees listed in TABLES 3 & 4

First, it needs to be said that it is generally believed that the earth, sun, moon and stars were not created in seven days, in 3957 BC (my own date for creation). This is compatible with the view that Adam and Eve were to replenish the earth (Gen 1:28), just as Noah was commanded to replenish the earth (Gen 9:1). This means the earth was plenished before it was to be replenished.

Second, it needs to be said that king Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon miraculously became an animal for seven years and was miraculously restored. At least this is how the story has come down to us.

Likewise, the old world must have somehow ended and needed to be recreated and given a new start, a new calendar using 52 weeks, 12 moons, 7 years, 49/50 years, Venus and Jupiter cycles.

According to the book of Jubilees, Adam died in the 19th jubilee year, 931 years after creation. This would be in 3024/23 BC.

427-Year Jubilee Pattern

However, if creation were in 3955 BC, instead of 3957, then there would be:

  1. 427 years times 8 to the fall of Babylon in 539 BC.
  2. 427 years times 7 to the founding of the temple in 966 BC.
  3. 427 years times 6 to the exodus in 1393 if we could somehow simply delete 52 years (2562 – 52 = 2510).
  4. 427 years times 5 to Abraham’s second calling 427 years after Noah’s flood.
  5. 427 years times 4 to Noah’s flood if we could somehow simply add 52 years (1656 + 52 = 1708).

Then we can date the exodus as 1445 BC and place Joshua’s conquest in 1405 BC. This has an effect on other jubilees:

  1. 1407 BC, a jubilee is two years before Joshua crosses the Jordan 1n 1405 in conquest of the Promised Land.
  2. 966 BC, a jubilee is two years after in 968 BC.
  3. 721 BC, when Assyria captured Israel.
  4. 623 BC, Josiah finds the lost book of the Law and begins a new reformation.
  5. 574 BC, 14 years after the fall of Jerusalem, Ezekiel has a vision of the new Jerusalem (Ezekiel 40:1).

If one view from Adam to the temple has 2761 years (251 x 11), and a second version has 2989 years (427 x 7), these two views would differ by 228 years. This is the same difference as between 479 and 251 from the exodus to the temple. This helps explain how or why the priests and rabbis, probably just before or after their revolt in 132 AD, reduced the Persian period 166 years and subtracted 62 years between Adam and the exodus from Egypt. (166 + 62 = 228).

Note: Archbishop Ussher’s version has Solomon dedicating the temple and bringing in the Ark in 1004 BC. In our revised modern dating, David captures Jerusalem and brings in the Ark from the house of Abinadab in 1004 BC (II Sam 6:3).

(1004 BC + 251 = 1255 BC = 251 x 5 = in the time of Pharaoh Rameses II?)

If sabbaticals began with Adam in 3957 BC, there would be a sabbatical in 1757 years (251 x 7) at the fall of Babel, and one in 2989 years (427 x 7) at the founding of the temple in 968 BC, the 61st jubilee (61 x 49).

Abram’s First Trip to Canaan

“At the end of that time, at the end of three years of Abram’s dwelling in the land of Canaan, in that year Noah died, which was the fifty-eighth year of the life of Abram; and all the days of Noah’s life were nine hundred and fifty years and he died” (Jasher 13:9).

However, if sabbaticals began when Joshua crossed the Jordan river into Canaan as instructed by Moses (Leviticus 25:2), then a sabbatical would be 441 years later, in 966 BC. The Samaritans also began counting when Joshua crossed the Jordan.

1407 BC (40 years after the exodus) would align with a sabbatical 441 (7 x 63) (49 x 9) years later, in 966 BC, even though the temple was founded 439 years after 1407 (I Kings 6:1), and sabbaticals likely followed in 588 (at the fall of Jerusalem, Jer 34) and 539 BC (at the fall of Babylon). In contrast, the Rabbinic view says Jerusalem fell in 422 BC, 166 years after 588, that is, 490 years before 70 AD, at the end of sabbatical years (Dan 9:25).

If there were a continuous 427-year cycle between Adam, the flood, Abraham’s calling, exodus and the temple, then a sabbatical would be counted from 3957 BC and would repeat in 2249, 1822, 1395 and 968 BC respectively. This aligns with sabbaticals in BC 968 (1st temple) and 520 (2nd temple).

TABLE 7 begins with creation in 3955 BC to align with a jubilee cycle after Joshua’s conquest in 1407 BC, and this aligns with 966, etc. as follows:

1. 1407 BC, Joshua crosses the Jordan in conquest of the Promised Land.

2. 966 BC, after the temple was founded in 968 BC.

3. 721 BC, when Assyria captured Israel.

4. 623 BC, when Josiah found the lost book of Moses and began a reform.

5. 574 BC, 14 years after Jerusalem fell, as mentioned in Ezekiel 40:1.

6. 64 AD, when the last seven years of the temple began.

7. 1191 AD, when the Third Crusade began.

8. 1975 AD

9. 2024 AD, perhaps the last jubilee in 6,000 years.

The exodus was likely in 1447 BC, 479 years before 968 BC (I Kings 6:1), but the sabbaticals and jubilees allegedly began 40 years later, in 1407, when Joshua crossed into Canaan, and the previous cycle continued. This cycle repeated for 441 years, down through 966, 721, 623, 588, 574, and 539 BC.

However, these dates could also be dropped two years to 3957 and 968, etc. as follows:

1. 1409 BC, Joshua crosses the Jordan in conquest of the Promised Land.

2. 968 BC, after the temple was founded in 968 BC.

3. 723 BC, when Assyria captured Israel.

4. 625 BC, when Josiah found the lost book of Moses and began a reform.

5. 576 BC, 14 years after Jerusalem fell, as mentioned in Ezekiel 40:1.

6. 62 AD, when the last seven years of the temple began.

7. 1189 AD, when the Third Crusade began.

      8. 1973 AD

      9. 2022 AD, perhaps the last jubilee in 6,000 years.

By dropping two years, the jubilees begin in the fall of the sabbaticals in 1409, 968 BC and 1189 and 2022 AD and they align with 3761 BC, the Jewish date of creation. Archbishop Ussher endorsed this view by beginning the sabbaticals after Joshua conquered the Promised land in the first five years. He did not acknowledge the sabbatical and jubilee two years before Joshua’s conquest because he neglected counting from creation, when Adam lived during the first 19 jubilees. Therefore, his dates for jubilees were in the first year of David and when the temple was dedicated, after Solomon had built it for seven years.

Some say that the jubilee cycle began with the Jewish date of creation, 3761/3760 BC. The rabbis had subtracted four jubilees (196 years) between 3957 and 3761 BC; they subtracted 60 years between Abraham and his father, and the rabbinical date for the temple is 832 BC, 136 years after the true date, which is 968/67 BC (60+136 = 196). The Jewish date for the exodus is 1312 BC, that is, 136 years after 1448 BC.

Notes on Jubilees listed in TABLE 8
The 427-Year Jubilee Pattern

If creation were in 3957 BC, then there would be:

  1. 427 years times 4 to Noah’s flood if we could add 52 years (1656 + 52 = 1708).
  2. 427 years times 5 to Abraham’s second calling 427 years after Noah’s flood.
  3. 427 years times 6 to the exodus in 1395 if we could delete 52 years (2562 – 52 = 2510).
  4. 427 years times 7 to the founding of the temple in 968 BC.

Otherwise, we can accept dating the exodus as 1447 BC, 52 years earlier than 1395 BC, and place Joshua’s conquest in 1407 BC. This has an effect on other alleged jubilee years:

  1. 1407 - 966 BC, a jubilee would be in 966 BC, two years after the temple was founded in 968 BC (427 x 7 years, 61 jubilees, after Adam), 98 years (2 jubilees) before 868 BC.
  2. 868 BC, in the third year of Jehoshaphat, Moses’ book of the Law was read during the feast of Tabernacles, 294 years (6 jubilees) before 574.
  3. 721 BC, a jubilee would be when Assyria captured Israel, 98 years (2 jubilees) before 623 BC.
  4. 623 BC, is when Josiah found the lost book of Moses and began a reform 49 years before 574.
  5. 574 BC, 49 years (one jubilee after 623), 14 years after Jerusalem fell, as in Ezekiel 40:1.

After the jubilee of 574 (Ezek 40:1), the cycle allegedly reverts back to the one since creation, before Joshua.

1.  520/19 BC, when the second temple was founded.

2.      331/30 BC was obviously a sabbatical (Wacholder’s figures say it was a jubilee). Alexander visited Jerusalem in 331 to honor the high priest’s request having sabbaticals without paying tribute.

3.      37/36 was a sabbatical (Wacholder’s figures say it was a jubilee), because Josephus said Herod conquered Jerusalem in a sabbatical year, which would be in 37 BC.

4.      1189/90 AD was a sabbatical (Zuckermann’s and Wacholder’s figures say it was a jubilee). Richard de Lionheart was crowned that year 21 days before a jubilee. Lionheart led the Third Crusade into Palestine.

2022/23 AD, perhaps the last jubilee in 6,000 years.

The Exodus to Temple Enigma

I Googled for “480 years from exodus to temple” and got 222,000 hits! If the period were simple to understand, why isn’t there only one version? It is so confusing that everyone has a different view they want to share. In my view, in order to have 479 years for the period (I Kings 6:1), the judges must be counted in a consecutive manner, without any overlapping. (Many chronologists also count the years of the kings in a consecutive manner.) The judges lasted 339 consecutive years; therefore, there were 140 other years before and after the judges (339 + 140 = 479).

Next, there were 139 years from Jephtah to the temple because there were 300 years from Joshua to Jephthah (Judges 11:26) (139 + 300 = 439). This means that the 111 years of oppressions would increase the period of the judges to 450 years (339 + 111 = 450). This view is found in Acts 13:20, and it ends with Samuel.

Therefore, the temple was in 968 BC. Jephthah was 139 years earlier, in 1107 (968 + 139 = 1107). Joshua was 300 years earlier than Jephthah, in 1407 BC.

Next, Samuel begins to rule after the death of Levi, 339 years after lots were cast to divide the land (Acts 13:20). The judges ruled after Othniel 339 years, until Samuel and Saul.

If we overlap the judges to fit within the 111 years of oppressions, from exodus to temple would be 251 years.

Notes on Jubilees listed in TABLE 10

This would be in 3026/25 BC.

Ben Zion Wacholder’s figures say that the jubilee cycle began with the Jewish date of creation, 3761/3760 BC. I have extended the date of creation back to 3957 BC because the rabbis had subtracted four jubilees (196 years) between 3957 and 3761 BC; they subtracted 60 years between Abraham and his father, and the rabbinical date for the temple is 832 BC, 136 years after the true date, which is 968/67 BC (60+136 = 196).

The exodus was in 1447 BC, 479 years before 968 BC (I Kings 6:1), but the sabbaticals and jubilees were 40 years later, in 1407, when Joshua crossed into Canaan. This cycle repeated for 441 years, down through 966, 721, 623, 588, 574, and 539 BC, and are two years after those that began at creation (illustrated in the chart).

331 BC was obviously a sabbatical (Wacholder’s figures say it was a jubilee), because Alexander visited Jerusalem that year to honor the high priest’s request to be allowed the sabbaticals without paying tribute.

37/36 was a sabbatical (Wacholder’s figures say it was a jubilee), because Josephus said Herod conquered Jerusalem in a sabbatical year, which would be in 37 BC.

1189/90 AD was a sabbatical (Zuckermann’s and Wacholder’s figures say it was a jubilee). Richard de Lionheart was crowned that year 21 days before a jubilee. Lionheart led the Third Crusade into Palestine.
