Solution to the Rabbinic Date of the Exodus 1312 BC The rabbinic chronology says there were 17 jubilees (50 years each, that is, 850 years) from the Israelites’ entrance into Canaan in 1272 BC with Joshua until 422 BC, the rabbinic date for the fall of Jerusalem (1272 – 850 = 422). Jerusalem actually fell in 588-87 BC, 166 years earlier than 422. However, 17 jubilees of 49 years each (833 years) prior to 422 BC give us 1255 BC (1255 – 833 = 422). Toss in 17 extra years in the 17 50-year jubilees plus 40 years to the exodus, and we get 1312 BC, as in TABLE 6, which is their date of the exodus. In other words, 166 years should have been subtracted from the 17 jubilees (833 - 166 = 667 years) to obtain the true date of when Jerusalem fell in 587 BC (1255 – 667 = 588).
