The rabbinical system omitted 166 years from the Persian rulership over Palestine. This affected the dates prior to Alexander, when he captured Jerusalem in 331 BC. The system also added 30 years between the temple and the Assyrian captivity of Israel. These two changes resulted in the dating the temple as in 832 BC instead of 136 years earlier, that is, in 968 BC.

NOTE on TABLE 7: 968 BC, when the temple was founded, was 439 years after the Israelites crossed the Jordan in 1407 BC as in TABLE 10. Therefore, the sabbatical would be in 966 BC, 441 years after crossing the Jordan. 966 is 245 years before 721 BC, when Assyria captured the Israelites of Samaria.
